When things are a disappointment, try not to be so discouraged.
I like to try to make the characters I play be as human as possible.
You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.
But now in this day and age, people are more prone to go out to try new things to enhance their performance on the field — to enhance their physical appearance.
When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe.

I try to understand place on a deeper level than just the physical or environmental aspects. It includes cultural and intellectual forces, too. It's an inclusive approach that brings in many disciplines and sees place as a dynamic thing.
