If you're OK with being clumsy, it's funny. But if you are super embarrassed, people are going to laugh at you.
People don't notice whether it's winter or summer when they're happy.
The most important thing is to live an interesting life. Keep your eyes, ears and heart open. Talk to people and visit interesting places, and don't forget to ask questions. To be a writer you need to drink in the world around you so it's always there in your head.
I don't look to find an educated person in the ranks of university graduates, necessarily. Some of the most educated people I know have never been near a university.
The cost of college education today is so high that many young people are giving up their dream of going to college, while many others are graduating deeply in debt.
You can make more friends in two months by becoming really interested in other people, than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.
Famous people are deceptive. Deep down, they're just regular people. Like Larry King. We've been friends for forty years. He's one of the few guys I know who's really famous. One minute he's talking to the president on his cell phone, and then the next minute he's saying to me, 'Do you think we ought to give the waiter another dollar?'
Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart.
The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any.
Do something wonderful, people may imitate it.
I am not afraid of aging, but more afraid of people's reactions to my aging.

The Europeans not only colonialized most of the world, they began to colonialize information about the world and its people.
Every bad joke, every endorsement deal, all of the things that a typical host would normally get creamed for, people don't mind, because they know I don't cheat when it comes to the work I actually try. I'm a lab rat. I'm a perpetual apprentice. The joke is on me if there is one.
Many people dream about being an entrepreneur, starting their own business, working for themselves, and living the good life. Very few, however, will actually take the plunge and put everything they've got into being their own boss.
It was we, the people; not we, the white male citizens; nor yet we, the male citizens; but we, the whole people, who formed the Union. And we formed it, not to give the blessings of liberty, but to secure them; not to the half of ourselves and the half of our posterity, but to the whole people — women as well as men.
With age, you see people fail more. You see yourself fail more. How do you keep that fearlessness of a kid? You keep going. Luckily, I'm not afraid to make a fool of myself.
I have survivor skills. Some of that is superficial — what I present to people outwardly — but what makes people resilient is the ability to find humour and irony in situations that would otherwise overpower you.
There is no lonelier man in death, except the suicide, than that man who has lived many years with a good wife and then outlived her. If two people love each other there can be no happy end to it.
