Take chances, make mistakes. That's how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave.
The tragedy of life is in what dies inside a man while he lives — the death of genuine feeling, the death of inspired response, the awareness that makes it possible to feel the pain or the glory of other men in yourself.
I did not lose myself all at once. I rubbed out my face over the years washing away my pain, the same way carvings on stone are worn down by water.
Experiencing sadness and anger can make you feel more creative, and by being creative, you can get beyond your pain or negativity.
Our heavenly Father understands our disappointment, suffering, pain, fear, and doubt. He is always there to encourage our hearts and help us understand that He's sufficient for all of our needs. When I accepted this as an absolute truth in my life, I found that my worrying stopped.
I think that humans have a huge capacity to carry pain and sadness. There are things that haunt us our entire lives; we are unable to let them go. The good times seem almost effervescent and dreamlike in comparison with the times that didn't go so well.
To truly laugh, you must be able to take your pain, and play with it!
I want to take all the pain that I feel and celebrate and turn it around.
Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things.
If falling into desperation worked to make things better, then I would say, 'Let's all jump into despair'. But it doesn't help. The only way to truly find meaning and fulfillment is to look at the disaster, the pain, the difficulty, and know with complete certainty that good can come from this.
I think many people can relate to that excruciating pain of love gone wrong. I'd rather have a broken arm than a broken heart.
Find a place inside where there's joy, and the joy will burn out the pain.
