Having children is my greatest achievement. It was my saviour. It switched my focus from the outside to the inside. My children are gifts, they remind me of what's important.
The world is full of CEOs that think that just because they write a memo or they write a letter inside an annual report or they give a little video speech that gets sent around the company, they think that's what's really going to affect employees.
It's not the hair on your head that matters. It's the kind of hair you have inside.
Do not suppress it — that would hurt you inside. Do not express it — this would not only hurt you inside, it would cause ripples in your surroundings. What you do is transform it.
Consider a tree for a moment. As beautiful as trees are to look at, we don't see what goes on underground — as they grow roots. Trees must develop deep roots in order to grow strong and produce their beauty. But we don't see the roots. We just see and enjoy the beauty. In much the same way, what goes on inside of us is like the roots of a tree.
Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win.
Roots are not in landscape or a country, or a people, they are inside you.
You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.
I've always really, really wanted to go to Egypt and go inside some pyramids and just hang out there. I don't know why. I don't like hot weather, and I don't like the desert, but something about the pyramid and the mummies and all their history there, I'd love to go check it out.
Inside every working anarchy, there's an Old Boy Network.
The tragedy of life is in what dies inside a man while he lives — the death of genuine feeling, the death of inspired response, the awareness that makes it possible to feel the pain or the glory of other men in yourself.
There's a constant tension between the excitement of new people and security with one person. If you go with excitement, you create chaos; you hurt people. There's jealousy, and it gets very messy. If you have security, it can be boring, and you die inside because of all the opportunities missed.
Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.
Being a caretaker is, and never will be, an easy job; in fact, it is that hardest job in the world and many times a thankless job. You have to be the pillar of strength even when you feel like you are crumbling to pieces inside.
In my business, you should be very strong in mind. You have to be sure about yourself and about your work and your career, and you have to be strong inside because so many people come around and try to say bad things about you.
Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.
If I'm in the car after a bad game, I may think about ways I need to improve. But the second I reach home, the game's over. Work doesn't come inside with me. Same thing in reverse — I don't bring my personal life into the ballpark. Learning to keep it all separate has made life easier.
What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.
Riding a race bike is an art — a thing that you do because you feel something inside.
