How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.
Saving our planet, lifting people out of poverty, advancing economic growth... these are one and the same fight. We must connect the dots between climate change, water scarcity, energy shortages, global health, food security and women's empowerment. Solutions to one problem must be solutions for all.
Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.
It is more important to click with people than to click the shutter.
Sometimes I forget how much people look at you as their hero. I forget that.
People talk about physical fitness, but mental health is equally important. I see people suffering, and their families feel a sense of shame about it, which doesn't help. One needs support and understanding. I am now working on an initiative to create awareness about anxiety and depression and help people.
That's one thing people don't know about me — I eat in my sleep. I can't keep things in the house; I literally have in my refrigerator water, coconut water, orange juice, hemp milk and like, tea bags. And that's really it. Because I eat in my sleep.
I'm very interested in the impact of biotechnology on the way people live.
When I was a kid, there was no collaboration; it's you with a camera bossing your friends around. But as an adult, filmmaking is all about appreciating the talents of the people you surround yourself with and knowing you could never have made any of these films by yourself.
When I was growing up, my parents told me, 'Finish your dinner. People in China and India are starving'. I tell my daughters, 'Finish your homework. People in India and China are starving for your job'.
Because of media hype and woefully inadequate information, too many people nowadays are deathly afraid of their food, and what does fear of food do to the digestive system? I am sure that an unhappy or suspicious stomach, constricted and uneasy with worry, cannot digest properly.
I want to be able to show people that I have flaws and they have flaws, too. And you know what that means? No one out there is perfect.
In the time we have it is surely our duty to do all the good we can to all the people we can in all the ways we can.
I truly believe my job is to make sure people smile.
The most dangerous leadership myth is that leaders are born-that there is a genetic factor to leadership. This myth asserts that people simply either have certain charismatic qualities or not. That's nonsense; in fact, the opposite is true. Leaders are made rather than born.
Escapist literature gets a bad rap. But I think escape is important for a lot of people in a lot of places.
Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.
There are people who are unhappy with everything.
With me, what you see is what you get. Yes, call me naive, but I love life. I am happy, and for that, I make no apologies. I do like to see the best in people, and when someone is nice to my face, I tend to believe them.
I really think there are many great organizations out there getting the word out about LGBT youth and bullying, but GLAAD has this way of making sure the stories about gay people are sent out and heard and not covered up, and I like that.
