The smartest thing I ever did as a writer was hire a retired conservation agent to blaze a hiking trail for me. Do activities you're passionate about — which make your heart and soul feel perky — including things like working out, cooking, painting, writing, yoga, hiking, walking, swimming, being in nature, being around art, or reading inspiring books.
I secretly enjoy being alone — hiking alone, skiing alone, walking along the beach alone, going to movies alone. Do not get me wrong, I like sharing my life with other people, but sometimes I really enjoy being as alone as possible.
I slow down when hiking. The rhythm of nature is more leisurely. The sun comes up, it moves across the sky, and you begin to synchronize to that rhythm.
