Children need to get a high-quality education, avoid violence and the criminal-justice system, and gain jobs. But they deserve more. We want them to learn not only reading and math but fairness, caring, self-respect, family commitment, and civic duty.
For any movement to gain momentum, it must start with a small action. This action becomes multiplied by the masses, and is made tangible when leadership changes course due to the weight of the movement's voice.
Don't gain the world and lose your soul; wisdom is better than silver or gold.
Leadership is, among other things, the ability to inflict pain and get away with it — short-term pain for long-term gain.
Whatever you do to gain success, you have to hang in there and hope good things happen. Always think positive.
